Cosmi Player Open Source Notices and Downloads

Cosmi Player uses open-source software and other third-party components. We acknowledge the authors and contributors whose work supports the application.

Each component remains subject to its own licence. Those licences govern your rights to the components and take precedence over conflicting application terms.

Components and licences

The reviewed Windows x64 app 1.1.0.0 uses the following principal components. This overview was updated on 6 October 2026. Use the release mapping to identify the materials for your app version:

Component Version Licence information
.NET and Windows Desktop runtime 10.0.12 Primarily MIT, with the Microsoft runtime exceptions identified below and additional bundled third-party notices
Microsoft.Data.Sqlite and Microsoft.Data.Sqlite.Core 10.0.12 MIT

The native runtime includes additional dependencies under their respective licences and, where applicable, licence exceptions. The complete notices download contains their copyright statements and licence texts. This table is an overview of the principal components.

Microsoft runtime licence exceptions

The following files retain Microsoft licence terms rather than the general MIT licence for the runtime:

Files Applicable terms
coreclr.dll; Microsoft.DiaSymReader.Native.amd64.dll; PresentationNative_cor3.dll; vcruntime140_cor3.dll; wpfgfx_cor3.dll Microsoft .NET Library License
D3DCompiler_47_cor3.dll Windows SDK licence
Microsoft.Windows.SDK.NET.dll; WinRT.Runtime.dll Windows SDK licence; see Microsoft/STORE-SDK-PROVENANCE.txt in the complete notices

Microsoft documents these exceptions in its Windows runtime licence information. The corrected notices include copies of the applicable terms and the SDK redistribution list. The MIT terms continue to cover the other runtime files, subject to their included third-party notices. These Microsoft terms do not change the licences of the separate playback libraries.

Downloads for your version

Use the downloads page to select the materials corresponding to your installed version of Cosmi Player. The 1.1.0.0 materials have their own download names and checksums. The 1.0.0.0 materials remain available for users of that version. Downloads do not require a GitHub account.

  • Complete third-party notices: full licence texts, copyright notices and library-rights information.
  • Playback-library source and build materials: matching covered-library sources, modifications, patches, build and replacement instructions, and dependency provenance.
  • Release mapping and SHA-256 checksums: version associations, download sizes and file-integrity information.

The source kit covers the playback libraries and associated build materials. Cosmi Player’s proprietary application source is separate. Version 1.1.0.0 includes a VLC subtitle codec mapping patch dated 6 October 2026, along with the earlier VLC and FFmpeg patches. The complete notices archive preserves all 191 notice files from the exact app package.

On GitHub, download the specifically named Cosmi-Player-playback-library-sources-1.1.0.0.zip. GitHub’s automatically generated “Source code” ZIP and tar.gz contain the small download-hosting repository, not the playback-library sources. Start with the source kit’s README.md and SOURCE-AND-REPLACEMENT.txt.

Your rights to modify covered libraries

The applicable open-source licences permit use, modification and redistribution subject to their terms. To the extent required by the LGPL, you may replace or relink covered libraries with compatible modified versions and reverse engineer the combined work to debug those modifications.

Cosmi Player provides a playback-library selection option in Settings. Follow the supplied source and replacement instructions when preparing a compatible library set. Modifying LIVE555 requires rebuilding the RTSP plugin containing it.

Offline notices and contact

The complete packaged notices are also available in Cosmi Player under Settings → Legal information. The website link in that window leads to the app page and its downloads and legal information.
